Remembering Stuart Scott

Sunday morning brought about the news that Stuart Scott, longtime ESPN SportsCenter anchor, passed away at the age of 49 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Said battle has been on and off since 2007.

Scott first joined the network in 1993 when ESPN2 launched and quickly climbed his way up the ladder. Phrases such as “Boo-yah!” and “As cool as the other side of the pillow” in addition to his commitment and hard work made Scott one of the most recognizable faces in sports journalism.

He addressed his uncertain future last July at the 2014 EPSYs as he accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.

“When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer,” Scott told the audience. “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.”
